Our Mission

We believe the most important aspect of a student’s education is to fully comprehend the learning process and appreciate why self-knowledge is vital understanding the scope and purpose of their own educations. Students become independent learners and begin to teach themselves when they see knowledge as something internal and self-propelled. Educators actuate that process of self-discovery.

The difference in our approach is that we see ourselves not merely as test coaches or learning support partners, but as enduring mentors whose years of academic and professorial experience can enrich and inspire a student’s educational goals far beyond the immediate needs of mastering a standardized test or a challenging subject. All of our tutoring—whether for test preparation, subject mastery, or personalized enrichment—begins with the philosophical premise that students must become active, self-conscious participants in their own educations, whether grasping a test, interpreting a text, understanding a formula or realizing their own missions in life.  Our consultations focus on the psychology of learning using individualized diagnostics.  We prepare students to become precise, analytical thinkers who use global frameworks and maintain a rhetorical vigilance, an open mind and a thirst to connect ideas among different disciplines.

A Personal Touch...

We are grateful for all the help you provided in developing our daughter’s critical thinking and writing skills. Sadly, this seems to be a diminishing focus in our test-oriented school system, but we feel fortunate that you intervened at just the right moment for all of our kids. We are forever grateful for this.

Because we are ourselves academics trained in the university system, we have pragmatic knowledge of the demands and rigors of a college education and know how to anticipate students’ needs beyond the customary requirements of college. In addition to building long-lasting pedagogical relationships with students and families, we also specialize in instructing students with learning differences and students who seek nourishing alternatives to conventional or institutional modes of education.
