Robert M. Grossman

President and founder Robert M. Grossman has taught and studied at seven different universities in the United States and Germany, and has earned advanced degrees in fields of Literature, Philosophy & Social Theory (“Modern Studies”), English Language, American Literature, and German Language and Literature. He has published translations in German; scholarly articles on literature, aesthetics and film; and presented dozens of professional papers over a twenty-year academic career. As a specialist and enthusiast in many areas—including mathematics, philosophy, literary genre, aesthetics, psychology, media, political and cultural theory, film studies, economics and linguistics—Mr. Grossman engages students to see the many intersections among diverse fields and disciplines and connects with students of all learning styles and interests. His goal is to achieve a personal mentoring relationship with every student, one that builds confidence, intellectual maturity and a love of learning.

Maria Rodrigues Grossman

Maria Rodrigues Grossman is the fourth generation of educators in her family. She holds an M.Ed. from the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education, specializing in social foundations of education, multicultural education, instructional technology, and educational research. Her doctoral research in the field of international and comparative education focused on postcolonial education in Sub-Saharan Africa. Maria has taught students at all levels, from Pre-K development and Middle School through High School and University. Maria is a former teacher and ESOL chair in the Fairfax County Public School system, and now provides support and positive interventions for families who need to navigate its bureaucratic terrain. Maria also taught sixth grade at the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., and currently mentors students one-on-one at the elementary and middle school grade levels. She is also the lead support for students transferring to the DC/Virginia/Maryland area schools from within the United States and overseas, liaison for client inquiries and research needs, and test preparation coordinator for classroom projects. Maria is a dual native speaker of Portuguese and English and speaks fluent conversational Spanish.

Andrew Grossman

Andrew Grossman holds an M.A. in English (with a concentration in Creative Writing) from Rutgers University and a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. He has taught English, composition, world literature, and media studies as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University and William Paterson University. The author of over 150 articles, essays, reviews, and encyclopedia entries, he has contributed chapters to the anthologies 24 Frames: Korea and Japan (Wallflower Press), New Korean Cinema (The University of Edinburgh Press), Chinese Connections: Critical Perspectives on Film, Identity, and Diaspora (Temple University Press), Action!: Interviews with Directors from Classical Hollywood to Contemporary Iran (Anthem Press), as well as to The New Dictionary of the History of Ideas (Scribner and Sons). He has also worked as an independent documentary filmmaker, as an editor of college textbooks for Bedford/St. Martin’s Press (New York), and as an assistant editor for The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
